ANSWERS TO SILVER SANTAS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 

When can a senior’s name be submitted?
The Tag submissions are from October 1st - until October 20 every year. We will accept the names of qualified seniors who live in assisted living or a group home in Pinellas County, Florida.

What about seniors who live in a Nursing Home or Skilled Nursing Facility?
We partner with another program that provides gifts for Seniors in Need in a nursing home in Pinellas County, Click Here for the website. 

Who can submit names?
Names can be submitted by a professional working in the county, such as a Social Worker, Case Manager, Activity Director, Guardian or Community Director.

How can a senior’s name be submitted for a tag?
Names are submitted by clicking here:  How to submit the name of a gift recipient. You must be a registered & approved Provider with us to submit names.

Where do I find a tag?
Tags are found on "trees" at participating locations throughout Pinellas County. Click this link to find a tree: How You Can Be a Silver Santa

What is my deadline for shopping?
We ask that all gifts be returned to the location where you picked up the tag, or the alternate location printed on the tag, as soon as possible, or by December 1, 2025 at the latest. 

Do I have to buy all items on the tag?
Purchase as many of the items as you wish.  Ask neighbors or co-workers to pitch in to “adopt” a senior. If you cannot find an item at all, Silver Santas will attempt to complete the items with donations that we receive, or substitute with a similar item.

Can I donate a gift card, or other items, rather than shop?

Checks are also accepted by mail:  Silver Santas, c/o Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas, Inc., 9649 Koger Blvd., Ste. 100 (Gadsden Bldg.), St. Petersburg, FL 33702.   Please write Silver Santas on the memo line of the check.

What is not allowed?
Please do not include medications/supplements, perishable items, home-made baked goods, unwrapped candy, alcohol, or tobacco products.

Should I wrap the gifts?
No, Silver Santa Elves will be checking all the bags and items prior to delivery so we need them to be unwrapped. If you wish, you may include a Christmas card or note - but per law, we cannot give out any identifying information for the individual recipient.

Who delivers the gifts?
The gifts are picked up and delivered by the professional Provider who submitted the name.

Shoppers: Please return your gifts ASAP, or by December 1, 2025 at the latest.
