The BLS Mental Health Awareness Committee invites you to be part of our dedicated & mutually supportive team. This committee plays a critical role in raising awareness on the unique mental health challenges faced by older adults. Our goal is to share resources and best practices to ensure our area seniors receive the support they need to thrive.

What happens when we lose sight of who we are while caring for someone else?

How do life transitions, aging, and caregiving affect our sense of identity, purpose, and well-being?

These are some of the questions we’ll be exploring at this month’s BLS Mental Health Awareness Committee meeting on Thursday November 19, and we’d love to have you join the conversation.

This month, we’re focusing on Identity and Caregiving - two important pieces of mental and emotional well-being as we age. We’ll explore how our sense of identity can change through life transitions and caregiving, the importance of maintaining purpose and independence, and the emotional challenges caregivers often face. We’ll also look at why supporting the caregiver is an important part of supporting the person receiving care.

Check out our bulletins, including our latest on Caregiving and Identity here.

Our conversations are always better when different perspectives are at the table, so bring your experiences, ideas, resources, and questions. This is a space to learn from one another, connect with fellow professionals, and find new ways to support the mental well-being of the seniors and caregivers we serve.

We’ll also be discussing our plans for giving back to our senior community and how we can best distribute the items we are purchasing with our committee funds. We would really value your input as we work together to determine how these resources can make the greatest impact.

We hope you’ll join us and be part of the conversation!

Join us on Thursday, November 19 at 10:00am via Zoom.

You’ll receive the Zoom link once you’ve registered. Please invite your colleagues.
